Years 3 and 4

We are Kestrels a mixed age Year 3–4 class. Our teachers are Mrs Hodge and Mrs Bleakley. Every day, we challenge ourselves in a range of lessons in which we always strive to achieve our best and to show our Burley values. In the afternoons we follow a project learning approach in which we learn deeply around an overarching question. In order to answer this question, we develop and apply our knowledge of a range of foundation subjects. We are exceedingly fortunate to be a small school surrounded by the New Forest. We have wonderful outside spaces at Burley Primary School including a student garden and woodland area.  With outdoor shoes at the ready, we often take learning outside whenever possible.

As a class we strongly believe that retrieval is a vital part of our day. We know that bringing our prior knowledge back into our working memory helps us learn more and remember more. Learning our multiplication number facts is an important part of the lower KS2 and each day we practice and recall these facts in a range of interesting ways.
