Our class team is made up of Mrs Kearley, Mr Cooke and Miss Wall.
On Wednesdays we are joined by Mrs Gormley who teaches the class Music and Mr Hine who teaches PE. We work together to plan, teach, encourage and nurture the children to develop a love of learning. Mrs Kearley loves being able to teach so many different subjects as she has never been able to make up her mind which one she likes the most. As a result, her favourite approach is to creatively combine contrasting parts of the curriculum in a colourful and engaging way. Miss Wall particularly loves teaching maths and grammar and helping the children with their imaginative writing. She is also an expert at helping children to understand and manage their emotions.
Autumn Term Learning
This term our first topic is a local study of Ripley and Sopley villages and the surrounding area. We will focus on the River Avon, a tributary of which runs through Ripley close to our school and use this as the starting point for a study of rivers.
Next half-term our topic is Tremors which will allow us to explore rocks, caves, mountains and earthquakes.
Speedy tables and Ultimate Challenge Times table tests are held on Fridays. This is also the day when DoJos are awarded for reading at home (in individual Reading Records) and other Home Learning.
P.E. lessons are usually on Wednesdays and Fridays; however, as a result of the weather and school events these do sometimes change so please ensure your child’s full P.E. kit is in school every day. This should include: trainers, socks, red t-shirt, navy or black shorts, tracksuit bottoms and top. Please name all items clearly.
Water bottles – keeping well-hydrated is essential and this is much easier if your child has their own named water bottle in class.
If you have any concerns or questions please let Mrs Kearley or Miss Wall know as soon as possible. The children's well-being is our priority and we always seek to work in partnership with parents to ensure that every child is happy and settled in school. We are available for quick chats at the start of each day and after school on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays for longer discussions.
