Years 3 and 4

We are Hedgehogs Class, a mixed age Year 3 and 4 class. Our teacher is Miss Symonds who teaches the 20 of us with extra help and support from Mrs Bull and Miss Geraty. We are busy everyday exploring, discovering and creating all sorts of wonderful things. In the mornings we do a mixture of handwriting, spellings, Guided Reading, Writing and Maths. In the afternoons, we can often be seen enjoying other subjects such as PE, Music, RE, Science and PSHE. At Sopley, we have an exciting curriculum which allows us to explore the subjects of History, Art, Geography, Computing and DT in depth. We only focus on these subjects for one whole term a year, but we are great at retrieving our knowledge and skills through different applications throughout the year.

In Hedgehogs we are on a mission to become the best learners we can be, we strive to strengthen and develop our skills and knowledge, and love to make links. We are extremely lucky to have such an amazing outdoor learning space and we try to make the most of this, with wellies and coats at the ready we like to get creative and learn a range of different things that link to our learning adventure.

Good to know:

  • PE days in Hedgehogs are a Tuesday and Wednesday, children are to come in full PE kit, suitable for the weather.
  • Our homework is set weekly on Wednesday and is due the following Tuesday. The homework consists of focus spellings for the week as well as a times table fluency task (Some children are so eager to strengthen their knowledge that they sometimes like to take home our learning from the lessons.).
